Our retail ethos is built on making the fashion industry environmentally conscious. Since 2013, we have been steadfast participants in the "Energy Efficiency in Buildings" initiative. We have been a loyal signatory of the "Energy Efficiency in Buildings" agreement since 2013. Boyner Cadde, which we opened in 2021 with the motto "Live Large, Live Boldly," is a striking reflection of our goal of minimum waste, minimal extravagance, and maximum happiness. This shopping destination, integrating sustainability with technology, art, and sports, showcases the future of experiential retail.

TRANSPARENCY AND TRACEABILITY IN THE VALUE CHAIN

We actively monitor the social, environmental, and chemical performance of our suppliers who manufacture Boyner Group's private labels. We aim to align our value chain with Boyner Group's standards. We closely monitor our suppliers based on our values, working principles, and legal regulations. After conducting audits, we implement capacity-building programs based on the findings, striving for continuous improvement throughout our value chain. We closely monitor the production processes of the products offered to our customers, and we control the suitability of the materials used by our suppliers in terms of customer health and safety. To achieve this, we analyze the life cycles of purchased products and verify the compliance of production conditions with employee rights, occupational health, and safety through contracts and audits conducted by our Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability team. As a result of all these efforts, we create corrective action plans for our suppliers to address identified deficiencies and inadequacies.

GREEN OFFICE - RETAIL CULTURE DEDICATED TO GREEN

Since 2012, we have been continuing our Green Office Project, which we initiated at Boyner Büyük Mağazacılık (BBM) in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). As part of this, we have renovated the interior of our headquarters to be environmentally friendly. Simultaneously, we encouraged our employees to transform their consumption habits and adopt green practices. As a result of our environmental and green initiatives in our headquarters, we were awarded the Green Office Certificate by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in June 2014. Within the framework of our Green Office practices, we monitored four consumption sources in 2023. We track and report our monthly electricity, natural gas, water, and paper consumption in our headquarters. We also calculated the greenhouse gas carbon emissions from each energy source we used. Through current situation analyses, we determined seasonal measures and implemented efforts to minimize our energy consumption.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

To increase the use of sustainable energy at our BR Mağazacılık headquarters in Torbalı, İzmir, we implemented the "Green Roof" project. With this project, operational in May 2022, we started generating energy with the Solar Power Plant (GES) installed on our 14,000 square meter area. As a result of our continuous efforts throughout the year, we increased the energy we produced through the GES to 2.13 GWh in 2023. This allowed us to meet all the electricity needs of our factory and headquarters. This achievement solidified our commitment to our sustainability goals and enabled us to reduce our environmental impact significantly.

I-REC CERTIFICATE

As of August 2023, we have transitioned our electricity to I-REC-certified green energy. This has enabled us to significantly reduce our Scope 2 emission values, preventing 4.6 tons of equivalent carbon emissions.

BOYNER BÜYÜK MAĞAZACILIK- EMBRACING CIRCULARITY WITH NIVOGO

Since 2021, we've been working with Nivogo to focus on our goal of revaluing and reintroducing products that couldn't be sold for various reasons back into the economy. This collaboration, aimed at preventing textile waste, is a significant step in contributing to both the fashion world and the sustainability of our planet. Products in our warehouses that were unsaleable and could be considered waste for various reasons, such as stains, wrinkles, or shelf defects, were brought back into use through our collaboration with Nivogo. With this partnership, we have transformed over 1 million products since 2021, saving 8 billion liters of water and reducing carbon emissions by 10 million kg. These gains translate to water savings equivalent to the annual drinking water needs of 14.7 million people and carbon emission reductions equivalent to the yearly electricity consumption of 11,319 homes.

REUSABLE BAG

We donated the proceeds from the sale of reusable bags to the "24 Eco-Friendly Schools" project, which we implemented in collaboration with the ÇEVKO Foundation. We delivered 744 recycling containers (plastic, metal, glass, paper, wood, composite, and textile), including 24 outdoor ones, to 24 schools in Kartal, İstanbul. Additionally, we organized upcycling workshops in schools to raise awareness and provide hands-on experience for children.

With the motto “Our Inner Beauty Shines Through,” we launched "Boyner Live Well", bringing together products that enhance the quality of life. Through our Live Well project, which aims to incorporate the concept of well-being into every aspect of daily life by offering products that benefit nature, life, and people, 15% of the products we sell in stores and online are organic, ecological, clean, vegan, and animal-friendly. Boyner Live Well goes beyond promoting personal health and well-being; it also encourages an environmentally conscious lifestyle. It features a wide range of products, from yoga leggings and cruelty-free cosmetics to natural shampoos, healthy snacks, sustainable clothing, books and shoes, and accessories made from recycled materials. Increasing the accessibility of Boyner Live Well products and inspiring more people to adopt a healthy and sustainable lifestyle are among our goals for the coming period.

NATURALLY COLORED COTTON

At BR Mağazacılık, we believe resource transfer is only possible in a sustainable world. As a result of our R&D efforts, we started producing naturally colored cotton that does not require dyeing processes, and in 2023, we harvested our first crop of products. With this innovation, we aim to reduce the environmental impact caused by dyeing processes and take an essential step in combating climate change by obtaining directly colored cotton. The production of naturally colored cotton offers the advantage of eliminating specific chemical processes and achieving significant energy savings. Since naturally colored cotton fibers possess an inherently soft texture, there is no need for additional treatments like softeners and finishing agents. This results in substantial savings in water, energy, electricity, labor, auxiliary materials, dyes, and chemicals.

WATER SAVING IN WASHING

As BR Mağazacılık, we continue to successfully implement our piece dyeing project with the Shadow reactive dyeing technique, which we started in 2022, in line with our sustainability goals of reducing environmental impacts in production. Thanks to our Eco-Finish, Nebula fog cloud dyeing system, we achieve 70-80% water savings, significantly reducing wastewater. The absence of a water heating system also results in 100% heating energy savings. This technique simultaneously brings about a 38% time saving and a 65-70% chemical saving. In 2023, we manufactured 125,000 products using this technique, achieving a water saving of 4 million liters in the dyeing process. We will continue to pioneer the industry in sustainable production and environmental impact reduction by increasing the impact of our Water Saving in Washing project.

GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD (GRS)

With our Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified products, we transformed 3.4 million PET bottles in 2021, 6 million in 2022, and 2.9 million in 2023 into raw materials, preventing 87.5 tons, 155 tons, and 124 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, respectively and achieving energy savings. Furthermore, we manufacture products with the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certification, utilizing wool, a natural and sustainable fiber. In 2023, 91% of our production consisted of RWS-certified wool fabrics. With our sustainable fiber certifications, we ensure the uninterrupted continuation of the value chain by using certified raw materials, and we utilize the "Textile Genesis" program, which is at the forefront of traceability programs.
